Five Colors is a family owned business established officially in
February, 2000. It is located in southwestern Pennsylvania in
Scottdale, which is about 45 minutes south of Pittsburgh. Our
first product, the Good News Crayons, was available for sale as of August
1, 2000 and was followed shortly after by The Good News Coloring Book in
early September, 2000.
Our products are designed with the missionary and Sunday school
teacher in mind. We believe that both the crayons and coloring
book are great tools to help present the plan of salvation in terms that
children can understand. We are trying to keep our prices low
enough so that our products can be used in settings where a large number
of children can be reached for Christ.
The idea for the crayons (which then led to the coloring book) was
formulated when watching a puppet presentation at Word of Life
International Teens Involved in 1998 at Schroon Lake, NY. A junior
high puppet team had a presentation with the puppets in a crayon
factory. This began my thinking of using crayons like the Wordless
Book. I work with teens and help them learn to witness to children
and I thought this would be an excellent tool to use. Everyone
else also thought this was a great idea, but no one was willing to take
the step to design the product and market it. Since no one else
would do it, I decided to do it myself. Therefore, Five Colors was
formed.
The name Five Colors was used since our initial products use the five
colors of the Wordless Book and hence defines what our company is all
about. Our products will be tools that can be used in witnessing
to children.
